As the “Father of Medicine” ( = Sir William Osler) said: — “Listen to your patient; he (she) is telling you the diagnosis”. I have been amazed at how many “worrisome” artifact rhythms have been elucidated simply by one look at what the patient is doing. THANKS again for your comment!
ECG Interpretationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02309020028961384995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549949223388475481.post-82687948013079247302020-10-18T04:47:53.933-05:002020-10-18T04:47:53.933-05:00Hi Arron! You are absolutely correct that under Pearl #3 — I should have said that leads aVR and aVL display half the amplitude of artifact (and NOT aVF). I have corrected this in the text! — :)

Otherwise — I LIKE your example of “shaking the rope” to visualize which leads will display the most artifact! Thanks again — :)
ECG Interpretationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02309020028961384995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549949223388475481.post-57439862344202865362020-10-18T04:42:09.372-05:002020-10-18T04:42:09.372-05:00@ Dr. Taha — Thank you so much for the kind words ...@ Dr. Taha — Thank you so much for the kind words — :)ECG Interpretationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02309020028961384995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549949223388475481.post-59824240379379132942020-10-18T01:00:08.032-05:002020-10-18T01:00:08.032-05:00WCT - IN A COVID 19 positive elderly lady- due to ...WCT - IN A COVID 19 positive elderly lady- due to ARTIFACT : State-of-the Art ECG discussion by KEN GRAUER is (as usual) excellent. His approach is unique, crisp and comprehensive. I am fortunate to be a contemporary physician to imbibe the ECG teachings of KEN GRAUER and STEPHEN SMITH, both stalwarts being my virtual mentors.
Dr.R.Balasubramanian
Professor of Medicine
Pondicherry- INDIAdr. I try to make a point of looking at the monitor while palpating or auscultation! Luckil...Hi Dr Grauer, another great post thank you! Luckily I am able to visualise Einhoven's triangle when locating the origin of artefact. If lead I is free of artefact I know that opposite of lead I is the left foot electrode. I visualise the three electrodes connected with rope, if I shake the rope at the foot electrode leads II, III and aVF shake with artefact and lead I is undisturbed, therefore I know the left foot is the source.
After reading Dr Rowland's and Moore's paper I just thought I just point out a slight typo under Pearl 3. The 2 augmented leads aVR and aVL display half the amplitude of artefact not aVR and aVF.
